Pushing the boundaries of digital imaging using Structured Illumination

چکیده
The principle underlying SI-OSR is the formation of Moiré fringes that result when two patterns such as those shown in Fig.[1]-row1, superimpose multiplicatively. The patterns correspond to the unresolved spatial detail in the scene, and the Structured Illumination. Their product produces fringes at spatial frequencies that are significantly lower than those of the underlying patterns, and potentially resolved by the camera (see the sequence of panels in Fig.[1]-row2).

Structured Illumination by a Pinhole Array for Holographic Microscopy
The structured illumination of samples is known as one of the techniques for sub diffraction optical microscopy [1-3]. A spatial resolution beyond the optical diffraction limit is achievable by using nano light spots for scanning of the sample. We apply the structured illumination for digital inline holographic microscopy [4-6]. The structured illumination patterns are superposed by that of the...
متن کاملDigital image processing and illumination techniques for yarn characterization
This paper describes various illumination and image processing techniques for yarn characterization. Darkfield and back-lit illuminations are compared in terms of depth of field tolerance and image quality. Experiments show that back-lit illumination is superior in terms of depth of field tolerance and contrast. Three different back-lit illumination configurations are studied: one simply employ...
متن کاملEnhancing spatial resolution in digital holographic microscopy by biprism structured illumination.
A novel and efficient architecture of a structured-illumination digital holographic microscope (DHM) is presented. As the DHM operates at the diffraction limit, its spatial resolution on label-free imaging of transparent samples is improved by illuminating the sample with a structured illumination produced by a Fresnel's biprism. The theoretical analysis of the method forecasts a twofold improv...
متن کاملReflection Transformation Imaging and Virtual Representations of Coins from the Hospice of the Grand St. Bernard
Reflection transformation imaging offers a powerful new method of documenting and communicating numismatic cultural heritage information. The challenges of documenting numismatic material will be examined along with the limitations of traditional documentary techniques. Previous uses of structured light scanning and PTMs in numismatic documentation are reviewed and evaluated. A novel, low cost ...
متن کاملAdaptive illumination reduces photobleaching in structured illumination microscopy.
Photobleaching is a major factor limiting the observation time in fluorescence microscopy. We achieve photobleaching reduction in structured illumination microscopy (SIM) by locally adjusting the illumination intensities according to the sample. Adaptive SIM is enabled by a digital micro-mirror device (DMD), which provides a projection of the grayscale illumination patterns. We demonstrate a re...
